Wings in a tight battle in the west.

Currently the Redwings are struggling to get back to where their used to being, which is the top of the western conference standings. However, it seems as though all of the top eight teams are in the hunt for the conference lead. At the beginning of this week the wings are sitting in second place one point behind the leader Vancouver. Now on Friday, they have dropped to fifth. Partly due to their loss to the Islanders on Tuesday night, but mostly its because all of the other teams are all even with them, if not better then them right now.

One thing is for sure is that the playoffs this year in the west is going to be very intense. Every top team can’t be counted out. Vancouver, Chicago, Minnesota, San Jose, and St. Louis are all serious contenders for the western title. With the wings just four points out of first and the season not even half over, there is no reason to be worried. They have plenty of time to hit their grove. And with their greatly under-rated goal tender Jimmy Howard just netting his 100th win all should be well come late April in Hockeytown.
